The World Junior Curling Championships Take Place from April 12 to 21 at the “Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio”.

After hosting the Cortina Curling Cup, a stop on the prestigious World Curling Tour held in January 2024, the “Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio” in Cortina d’Ampezzo is ready to welcome another major sporting event in just a few days. The newly renovated Ampezzo venue will be the stage for the World Junior Curling Championships, scheduled from April 12 to 21. Over the course of ten intense days of competition, the 2025 world titles—both men’s and women’s—will be up for grabs. The first seven days are dedicated to the round robin phase, followed by two days of semifinals and finals.

The opening ceremony will take place on the evening of Saturday, April 12, at the Ice Stadium. Thirteen nations will compete for the top prize: Canada, China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Latvia, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, Sweden, and the United States.

This world championship, organized by Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, serves as a test event for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, taking place at the very venue that will host the Olympic curling competitions. The stadium has been upgraded in recent months to meet the highest standards and represents an ideal bridge between the 1956 Olympic Games, the first held in Italy, and the upcoming 2026 edition. The Ampezzo Ice Stadium was in fact the setting for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1956 Olympics, as well as the ice hockey and figure skating competitions.
In more recent years, when it comes to curling, Cortina has hosted both the World Mixed Doubles Championship (2009) and the Men’s World Championship (2010).
This world-class event will provide crucial feedback as we prepare to deliver the best possible Olympic and Paralympic competitions next year,” says Massimo Antonelli, Deputy Sport Manager of the Organizing Committee. “Cortina has a long-standing tradition in curling, and these World Junior Championships will further enhance that legacy, offering a unique opportunity for young athletes to compete in a venue that symbolizes the 1956 Games and will soon host the 2026 edition. It will also be an inspiring experience for local youth, who will get the chance to witness a top-level event up close and take away valuable motivation.
