At Skipass Modena, Fondazione Cortina presented the programme of events for the coming winter season including Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Curling, Ski Mountaineering, and Paralympic disciplines.<\/p>\n
The first memo on our calendar is set for December 16th<\/strong> with an event of great impact and spectacularity, the Parallel Giant Slalom (PGS) of the Snowboard World Cup<\/strong>, with night competitions on the snows of Faloria. January 26-27-28 are the dates confirming the appointment with the “Queens of Speed”: the AUDI FIS Cortina Ski World Cup<\/strong>. From January 30th to February 2nd, Paralympic athletes will be competing in the fifth 2023-2024 round of the FIS Para Alpine World Cup<\/strong>: the programme includes technical (slalom) and speed (Super-G) races. This is a crucial event for Fondazione Cortina and the territory and it will be organised with the precious collaboration of FISIP<\/strong>, the Italian Paralympic Winter Sports Federation in a synergy that was successfully tested last year.<\/p>\n Cortina will live an exciting week, dedicated to inclusive sport, which will confirm Cortina and the Belluno province as the hub of inclusivity. <\/strong>An area capable of attracting and managing competitions of different disciplines on a single track, an area getting ready in the best possible way for the 2026 Olympic Games. During the Winter Olympic Games of 2026, 123 Paralympic medals will be awarded in Cortina, including skiing, snowboarding and curling.<\/p>\n On February 3rd and 4th there will also be the Dobbiaco-Cortina<\/strong>, a granfondo<\/em> combining Pusteria and Ampezzo. The Organising Committee present today to present the 47th edition confirmed the race’s official entry in the Ski Classic calendar as a challenger race. For the third year in a row, in synergy with Snowboard Club Cortina<\/strong>, the Snowboard Cross World Cup<\/strong> will also return on March 8th and 9th. The competition venue will be the San Zan slope in Socrepes and an additional touch of spectacularity will thrill the spectators with the final races at night.<\/p>\n Let’s take a small step backwards for a record: Cortina will host for the first time the prestigious World Curling Tour<\/strong>. From April 6th to 10th of 2024, the Cortina Skimo Cup<\/strong> will be back in our valley. As is tradition, the closing of this amazing winter season will be the Alpinathlon<\/strong>: an event created and organized in synergy with the Army’s Alpine Troops Command<\/strong>. On April 13th, Cortina and Faloria area will host a duathlon (running + ski mountaineering); the race is open to anyone and it will be possible to compete individually or in teams, alongside the best athletes of the Army Sports Team.<\/p>\n As in the best tradition, this season will combine sport and excellence. \nAlongside the Fondazione will be the historic Snowboard Club Cortina<\/strong>, which has always managed these competitions with passion and professionalism.<\/p>\n
\nThe event par excellence<\/em> of the Women’s Alpine Skiing circuit. The 2024 edition will see 3 races (two Downhill races and the Super-G) on the legendary slope “Olimpia delle Tofane” for a weekend organised as usual by Fondazione Cortina in collaboration with the Cortina Ski Club.
\nLast year’s edition was special in terms of podiums, with the Italian Winter Sports Federation<\/strong> on the podium three times (victory for Sofia Goggia in the Downhill and two third places for Elena Curtoni in the second Downhill and Marta Bassino in the Super-G). Thi 2024 edition will be even more special because just two days later the same slope will host the Paralympic Alpine Skiing World Cup races.<\/p>\n
\nThe challenge covers the 42 km that divide the two localities via the Cimabanche Pass<\/em> and includes a first trial ‘in tracks’ of the classic technique and, on the following day, the spectacular 35 km free technique.<\/p>\n
\nThe collaboration between the Fondazione Cortina and the Cortina Curling Association will bring in Cortina an international top level event, with 12 of the world’s best women’s teams competing at the Olympic Ice Stadium. The programme includes a first group stage between January 11th and 13th and the final awarding the Cortina Curling Cup<\/strong> on Sunday January 14th.<\/p>\n
\nAfter the 2022 and 2023 editions, valid for the Italian Cup and the Italian Championship, the 2024 edition will have an international character: the ISFM, the International Ski Mountaineering Federation, has in fact assigned the World Cup Finals to Cortina d’Ampezzo.\u00a0 Four spectacular races (Vertical, Individual, Sprint and Mixed Relay) will be staged in the Cinque Torri – Passo Falzerego – Lagazuoi area,. Theese races will be the last appointment of the circuit, which includes a total of seven events in Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain and Andorra. Having the chance of hosting the finals is a great confirmation of the quality of the work done by Fondazioen Cortina, together with the Guide Alpine<\/strong> and the Gruppo Scoiattoli Cortina<\/strong>. Ski Mountaineering is a growing speciality that will be part of the Winter Olympic Games for the first time in 2026.<\/p>\n
